Satya Chavez (Music Director) is an actor, singer, musician, composer, and music director based in Chicago. While her most recent projects include American Mariachi at South Coast Rep., composing for Curious Theatre’s commissioned play, Refuge by Andrew Rosendorf, and working with The O’Neill Center as an actor and musician, Chavez has over 10 years of experience in vocal instruction, choral arrangement and music direction. Her other regional credits include; Arizona Theatre Company, Actors Theatre of Louisville, John F. Kennedy Center, Jackalope Theatre Company, Porchlight Music Theatre, Denver Center for Performing Arts, Colorado Shakespeare Festival; Curious Theatre; The Arvada Center, San Diego Repertory Theatre, BDT Stage, Boulder Fringe Festival, The Aurora Fox Theatre, The University of Colorado and Parlando School of Music. Additionally, Chavez was awarded the 2014 Kennedy Center National Irene Ryan for Acting, and has since spent time acting and collaborating with the Kennedy Center as a part of their New Playwrights Workshops. She also, created one of The University of Colorado’s top and current a cappella groups, On That Note, an inclusive co-ed a cappella group tailored for students pursuing their careers in the arts, appeared on ABC’s first season of American Idol, received her B.F.A. in Acting from The University of Colorado, and completed an acting apprenticeship at Actors Theatre of Louisville.
