MARILYN CAMPBELL-LOWE is the original co-founder of Writers Theater w/Michael Halberstam. She is the recipient of the 2003 Joseph Jefferson Award for her co-adaptation with Curt Columbus of Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment, published by Dramatic Publishing. The play has enjoyed over 80 productions across the country including: Berkeley Rep, Intiman, 59E59th, Cleveland Playhouse, Actors Theater of Louisville, Cincinnati Playhouse, Center Stage, Trinity Rep, and numerous productions on the West Coast where in 2009 the play won an L.A. Backstage Garland Award and a nomination from the L.A. Drama Critics Circle for “Best New Adaptation.” In 2017 it was seen on London’s West End and at Oxford University. Other plays include: The Beats (Writers Theatre and 16th Street Theater), The Gospel According to Mark Twain (Manhattan Theater Club and Edinburgh Festival), Mixing It Up (16th Street Theater) and Skin Trip (Chicago Solo Festival and Herstory Theater). In 2020, she will be performing her one-woman show, My Own Stranger, from the writings of Anne Sexton, at the United Solo Festival in New York City.
