Arlene Malinowski- As actor, playwright and teaching artist Arlene views her solo work as an artistic extension of the social justice work she has been committed to for the last 25 years. Her award-winning solo shows have toured throughout the country as well as internationally and have been honored with an LA Theater Ovations Award and Garland Award. She is the recipient of the 3arts Fellowship at the UIC Department of Disability in the Arts and Culture. As an actor she has worked in Theater (In Chicago-Goodman, Victory Gardens, 16th Street, and many theaters in LA including the West Coast Ensemble and HBO Work Space, in film and television (some of it good most of it bad). She has been a Ragdale Fellow, visiting artist with Quad Cities Arts Program and developed and teaches the Solo curriculum at Chicago Dramatists Theater where she is a Resident Playwright. She is an Artistic Associate at 16th Street Theater since 2008. “A Little Bit Not Normal” commissioned by 16th Street Theater explores her journey with mental illness was a Blue Ink semi-finalist and is now touring. She has been a contributor to Huffington Post, Paramu Penatquark and Medium. Her newest play “Where All Of It Is True and None of It Is Real”, an O’Neill semi-finalist, will have a workshop at 16th Street Theater and a reading at Chicago Dramatists later this year.
