The daughter of the famous intellectual and outspoken Palestinian advocate Edward Saïd and a sophisticated Lebanese mother, Najla grew up in a Manhattan world defined largely by class and conformity. While visiting her parent’s homelands as a teen, Najla tells of kissing Jewish boys, an encounter with Arafat, and taking shelter from bombs giving audiences a personal passage into one of the most volatile and historic corners of the earth with compassion, humor and honesty.
Najla Saïd has performed off Broadway, regionally and internationally. Palestine, which features material from Najla’s memoir, Looking for Palestine, enjoyed a nine-week sold-out off-Broadway run.
Running time is 100 minutes with no intermission.
