In remembrance of Ann Mackin, the “Lady in the Hat” as she liked to be known. We will remember Ann Mackin as THE reason there is even a North Berwyn Park District serving the residents north of Cermak and south of Roosevelt. In 1976 she took up the challenge and made it happen and never stopped.
Here she is pictured in 2014 with a rock star of new play theater leaders. In the offices of the North Berwyn Park District that day she told stories dazzling and charming Lou Moreno of INTAR, John Dias of Two River Theatre, Jenny Larson of Salvage Vanguard, director Lisa Rothe, John Eisner of The Lark and playwright of Pinkolandia Andrea Thome.
Ann Mackin said what she meant and meant what she said. She supported all the park district’s and theater’s programs, seemingly attending every North Berwyn event with her daughter Janet well into her 95th year of life. And life is what she had an abundance of. We loved listening to her stories. She was unafraid and always present. A woman to aspire to be.
