IMPACT is 16th Street’s Teen-led and self-directed FREE program for youth 13-19 years of age.
Held EVERY Saturday from 1-3 PM.IMPACT will meet in person at 16th Street Theater.
16th Street provides free space, resources, guidance, and professional workshops for the students who are a part of IMPACT. Free professional workshops have included: painting with Tara Tischer, acting with Esteban Andres Cruz, writing with Steven Strafford, stage combat with Michele DiMaso and screenprinting. Field Trips have included Teen Open Mics at FitzGerald’s and a day at the National Museum of Mexican Art in Pilsen with former Education Director Allyce Torres.

Michele DiMaso is a familiar figure at 16th Street where she has served as the lead teaching artist for the past seven years and is also an Associate Artist. Michele became Managing and Education Director in 2020. She was seen as Gabby in 16th Street Theater’s production of Koalas. After receiving her MFA from the University of Pittsburgh, Michele became an active participant of the theater community in Chicago. Her credits include co-artistic director of Yugen Theater, company member of Footsteps Theater, and founding member of Babes with Blades. She has had the privilege of working with Defiant Theater, Shattered Gobe, Steppenwolf, Timeline and more. Michele has put her fight skills to use by choreographing violence for many theaters in and around Chicago. She is a member of Equity and SAG-AFTRA. Michele appeared in the film, The Watcher, and the television show, Early Edition. For the past 16 years, Michele has been living the role of a lifetime; proud mother to Joey and Jake.
