16th Street Theater was founded in 2007 with the belief that every community should have its own theater reflecting the stories and lives of its residents. A place where audiences are invited to experience their own stories as well as their neighbors’ stories.
Dedicated to artistic excellence, professionalism (paying artists a decent wage) diversity and affordability, 16th Street’s mission is to encourage debate, discussion and compassion amongst our community by creating and producing intimate and diverse theater with the playwright as our central focus.
Believing that artists are skilled workers who must be paid for their craft, 16th Street is proud to be Illinois’ most affordable, professional Equity theater with a top general admission price of $25 ($20 for Berwyn Residents and Low Income) providing excellent, diverse and affordable theater.
16th Street is led by Interim Artistic Director Jean Gottlieb, Managing/Education Director Michele DiMaso and Box Office/Marketing Manager Omar Fernandez.
