Steven Strafford is an actor and playwright living in Chicago. He is the author and performer of the critically acclaimed and award-winning, Methtacular! which he has performed across the country. Recently, the show was filmed at Steppenwolf’s 1700 Theatre. He is also the author of Small Jokes About Monsters which has had productions in Houston, (nominated for Houston Theater Award for Outstanding New Play) Sioux City, and right here at 16th Street Theater! His short play, The Breakup Play, has been seen in Houston, Chicago, and Portland, Maine. His newest play, Mona Q: Age 38, is in development. As an actor, has been seen in Chicago most recently as The Dentist and other roles in Little Shop of Horrors at Drury Lane Theatre and Hortensio in Shrew’d at First Folio. He has also been seen as Chick Clark in Wonderful Town at The Goodman Theatre, as The Headwaiter in She Loves Me, Melman in Madagascar, Johnny Sandwich in Honeymoon in Vegas, Wiesel, Jacobi et al. in Newsies, and The King and Malakite in Sleeping Beauty, all at The Marriott Theatre. Also in Chicago, he was seen as Jesus and Stephen Hawking in End Days. He has toured nationally and internationally as Prince Herbert, et al. in Spamalot, Cecco in Peter Pan, The Herald in Cinderella, and Eugene in Grease. He has performed regionally at Sacramento Music Circus, Cape Playhouse, Portland Stage Company, Cardinal Stage and many others.
