Rekindling old traditions with contemporary tales of family, faith and forgiveness from three of 16th Street’s favorite writers. In Over the Hill and through the Woods by Elizabeth Berg, Helen hides in the attic from her family on Thanksgiving. In Tanya Saracho’s Our Good Night, a daughter comes home to her mother in an empty house for Christmas on the border. And in December 1944 a World War II chaplain makes the rounds in Belgium searching for answers from above in Robert Koon’s The Chaplain.

Performed by Patricia Donegan, Richard Henzel, Karen Rodriguez, Miranda Zola (Christie Coran performs Nov 28-30)

“This holiday presentation from 16th Street Theater strikes a nice balance of sentiment and cynicism with a trio of well-paced, compelling stories exploring all sides of the season…Ann Filmer adapted and directed these gems with the graceful confidence that’s the hallmark of this little theater.” – Jack Helbig, Chicago Reader

“Their performances are lively and animated-in both voice and body-and each brings a delightful presence to their characters, inspiring visions of old radio shows listened to by families gathered around a Yule log as snow falls outside. Each story is so well-crafted and richly described that, although the stage is almost bare, each scene is brought to life through the audience’s imagination.” – Mary Kroeck, New City
