Mary moved to the Oak Park area twenty years ago from Kansas City. She and her partner, Michael enjoy plays, musicals, sports (he’s a Packer Fan) and travel. Sadly, her cat “Bubbles” is no longer with her.
Loving the arts and architecture, she has been proud to be an Interpreter at the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust for eighteen years. She recently was pleased to also become a Docent for the Chicago Architecture Foundation. She’s a mediocre alto in the St. Edmund choir, and enjoys volunteering with the Prevail Arm of Housing Forward.
She relished 35 years in Healthcare Sales, retiring in 2014 from her position as Director of Sales, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics. Her tenure in the Healthcare Industry afforded her the opportunity also live in Dallas, Atlanta and Tucson. She hails from a variety of places being an Air Force Brat and is a Florida Gator.
Always an avid theater goer, Mary discovered the 16th Street Theater five years ago.
She joined the Board of Directors two years ago and put her strategic planning and sales skills to use. Her dedicated fellow board members welcomed her with open arms, enriched her knowledge of the arts, and are a lot of fun! She’s had the opportunity to interface with local businesses (all excited about the theater in the neighborhood) to garner donations for the annual “Bash”.
She has animatedly promoted this treasure of a theater. She feels so fortunate to have discovered this gem and is so grateful to have an equity theater in the neighborhood. The breadth of topics, thought provocation, open discussion and vision of Ann Filmer have enriched her life and many others.
