Bill Corbett is an aviator and is retired from United Air Lines, where he worked for 35 years, retiring in 2007 as a cargo manager. He is also a Vietnam veteran and served 14 years in the U.S.Navy. He left the Navy just 2 days before he was going to be sent to the first Gulf War. After surviving Vietnam he did not want to chance fate.
Bill has extensive service in working with non profits and fundraising. He is a marathon coach, and himself has run 20 marathons including 5 Boston Marathons, his last in 2014, 1 year after the bombings.
He is a former president of the Evergreen Park, Illinois homeowners association. He was treasurer for the Pono Kai owners association in Kauai, Hawaii and served on the board of directors for the Lansing, Illinois Country Club. He is also a member of the Beverly Theater Guild.
He is a 3 time cancer survivor. Survived stage 4 prostrate cancer in 2009, being operated on just 2 days after running his best Boston Marathon, of 4:36.46. Survived esophagus cancer as well as melanoma cancer.
