Juan Franciso Villa
Juan is thrilled to join 16th Street Theater as an Artistic Associate. You last saw Juan at 16th Street with their Teatro Vista Co-Production of Empanada for a Dream. He received a Solo Performance Chicago Jeff Nomination for his autobiographical solo play. EFAD was produced at The Los Angeles Theater Center and will go international with a 2014 production in Toronto. He will be performing with the only latino sketch/improv group SALSATION on My Big Fat Quinceanera at Gorilla Tango. He will be performing at the Goodman Theater this December in Hotel Concierge with Teatro Vista Resident Playwright Kris Diaz.
Juan originated the role of Jason at Victory Gardens in the 2013 New Works Jeff Nominated World Premiere of Mojada by Luis Alfaro, directed by Victory Gardens Artistic Director Chay Yew. He also worked at the Goodman Latino Fest with Pulitzer Prize Winner, Quiara Alegria-Hudes’ Water by the Spoonful. He performed at the Steppenwolf Summer First Look Series with Your Name Will Follow You by Carlos Murrillo.

NYC credits: The Duke, Rattlestick, Mabou Mines, INTAR, terraNOVA Collective, Rising Circle, Monarch, HERO, Lark, Collaboration Town, BAX, 59E59, and La Mama. Los Angeles credits: Los Angeles Theater Center and Celebration Theater. He is also a playwright which includes a Spring residency with his Don Quixote inspired play don chipotle at the New Play Fest with Theater Squared in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Other plays currently in development by Juan are el dragon del village, he will rise and gen-tried. He is a teaching artist having had residencies in NYC and Chicago. He is an ensemble member of Teatro Vista in Chicago, and InViolet in NYC. He is a proud union member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA. Juan is a graduate of The Maggie Flanigan Meisner Conservatory in NYC.
